The Race Recovery Project was founded for the black community affected by internalized racism. The vision is to foster the health of black lives in all dimensions of life with particular focus on renew consciousness of identity as a black person. The Race Recovery Project is rooted in the ways that blacks have triumphed in everyday life despite the effects of slavery and racism. The platform is for blacks, unapologetically.
Building a reality that ensures the wellness of black people is our mission. It is a community mission that recognizes what may appear the mundane black resolve as MIRACULOUS! We celebrate everything that has allowed our people torn from the shores of Africa, scattered throughout the European and Western hemispheres and stripped of birthrights as citizens to create and cultivate culture rich in traditions, values and resilience.
Black skin is never simply black. It is a range of psychological and social consequences that become necessary to navigate life for black people. Whether we accommodate white discomfort above our own, change or critique our behavior as an apology for existing or develop practices of self hatred, we have had to navigate.
We no longer accept the duty of ensuring any other survival above our own. We no longer ask for permission to exist and thrive. We no longer live the life compatible with involuntary servitude.
